Seiho means good guy, good fellow, in Japanese. At age 15 this group of friends which went to the same class at Costa I Llobera School in Barcelona, decided to form a pop-rock band. They didn’t know how to name the band so they adopted the name of one of an other classmate, Seiho, who chanted their first Beatles and Beach Boys covers.

They soon left their teenage days behind but their obsession with music led them to perfect their instrumental techniques, vocal harmonies as well as their staging, until they found a more autonomous sound. It was then when their personality surfaced and it occurred to them that little pigs could fly.

With an EP under their arm they had the perfect cover letter to play at the most important music venues in Barcelona and it also gave the public the chance to get to know them. So much so that today the name “The Seihos” will ring a bell to the music lovers who hang out at the Apollo, Sidecar or Magic. This is not strange if we take into account that these men’s concerts start and finish as a sort of absolute party, party, party collective orgy.

Theirs is also a product which has an assured success in the country’s capital, Madrid. They have played at venues such as Costello Club, Juglar, Taboo and Top Of The Pops. They have also been seen and have played their song “Nozomi” in Liverpool and Dublin. These were years in which they were able to warm up and write the songs for what would be their first album, self-published and produced by Arnau Vallvé in 2009.

This first homonymous piece of work, “The Seihos”, represents “homemade pop music’s hope” according to the music magazine MondoSonoro.  Who ever wrote this quote was quite right because The Seihos have already performed their LP in well-known festivals such as Madrid’s FestiMad,  Villa de Bilbao-Bilborock in Bilbao, Invitrco (Off Mercat de la Musica Viva de Vic Festival) in Vic, Vila-Seca’s XI Street Fair, Villa de San Adrián XV Contest , FAT Festival, IX Festinoval, etc. Besides, the magazine MondoSonoro has awarded them with the "Banda Demoscòpica 2009" prize, and the communication company A Portada with the “Artista 10” award.

Today the members of The Seihos have been playing together for ten years. Throughout all this time they have forged on stage and have tuned their scores, constructing a more elaborate sound by including string quartets and wind sections in their compositions. These 24 and 26-year-old fellows’ talent has burst in their second album “2”, also produced by Arnau Vallvé. The Mozambican bass player Childo Tomás - known for his collaborations with the pianist Omar Sosa- has also produced two of the songs: “Universal” and “Childo”.

“2” inevitably brings Africa to our minds because besides Childo Tomás’ collaboration there are also other African performers, like the percussionist Marcel Tianan or the singer Anita Zengeza, who have also participated. Therefore, the album reminds us of Paul Simon’s most exotic songs such as the ones in the album “Graceland”, of when he visited the continent.

All of it without setting aside their main musical reference, Britpop. All these influences added to their own creative identity leads The Seihos’ clever, elaborate and ecstatic melodies to go from pop-rock to the world of jazz and highbrow music.
